Malcolm X and the Black Power movement (14 Apr 1957 Jahr – 21 Feb 1965 Jahr)

Beschreibung:

After Johnson Hinton, a black muslim, was beaten and imprisoned by the New York City police, Malcolm X alongside many other black muslims assembled and protested for him to be treated and released. He later went on and sued the city for police brutality and wounded up winning. This marked the beginning of Malcolm X as an important figure in the civil rights movements of the following years. Contrasting to Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X worked closely with the Nation of Islam and was against black people integrating into a white America. He advocated for black people to take a stance and attain their freedom by any means possible, which stood in opposition to the more peaceful movements of the time.
