76 years after his death, Hoomothya (Anglo-American name: Mike Burn) had his full autobiography published for the first time. A member of the Yavapai tribe, Hoomothya, was one of the few who documented his personal experiences with colonial violence, forced removal, and his very long struggle to gain the same rights as white Anglo-American settlers. He was the sole surviving Yavapai witness of the Skeleton Cave massacre and later became the first Indigenous person in the Arizona Territory to gain U.S. citizenship and the right to vote.
