May 14th, 1787: Delegates from states met in Philadelphia until the minimum number of representatives was met.
May 25th, 1787: Convention officially started in Philadelphia State House which is now Independence Hall
May-June 1787: Delegates discussed the Virginia Plan, which favored a strong central government, and the New Jersey Plan, which favored a weak central government.
July 1787: Delegates discussed the Great Compromise which established a bicameral legislature, meaning that there are 2 chambers in Congress. It also established that the Senate has representation equally from all states with 2 senators for each state. Finally, the House of Representatives would have representation based on the states' population, meaning a more significant population gave a state more representatives.
September 1787: The final draft of The Constitution was completed and 39 of 55 delegates signed it. Congress sent the constitution to all the states to be ratified.
