Slave trade (1 Jan 1326 Jahr – 1 Jan 1807 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
The slave trade (Trans atlantic slave trade) was a trade system between some countries in Europe, Africa and the Americas. Europeans traded metals and guns for slaves. They brought the African slaves to the Americas to trade them for cotton and sugar. Millions of African slaves lost their lives on the way to the Americas, because of the bad conditions on the ships. In the Americas, the slaves mainly worked on plantations and in mines.
One of the reasons for the slave trade, was the European colonialism. European countries wanted more workforce for growing crops and mining for resources in colonies in the Americas. Many of the Indigenous people had already died from diseases that were brought by the Europeans. This is why they needed more workforce. Furthermore, the slave trade was very profitable for both European traders and plantation owners. Plantation owners made a greater profit, because it was cheaper to enslave people instead of paying them. Slaves did not have to be paid, because they were seen as property.
