Beschreibung:

Darwin published On the Origin of Species which proposed natural selection and began the process of scientific development surrounding heredity and environmental factors. In 1868 he also published his theory on how heredity and the development of genetic information worked called “Pangenesis.” The details of pangenesis involved each cell within an organism’s body developing “gemmules” and the reproductive organs redistributing them to offspring. While the inner workings of his theory were proven incorrect by later scientific work, it laid the foundation for understanding the specific mechanisms of heredity.
