Safavid Empire of Persia (1 Mai 1501 Jahr – 1 Sept 1722 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
The Safavids used claims of religious ancestry and descent in order to justify and maintain their rule. Shah Ismail and his successors traced their ancestry back to Safi Al-din, the leader of a prominent Sufi religious order in Northwest Persia. The Safavids also settled on a form of Shia Islam known as Twelver Shiism because it appealed to Nomadic Turkish tribes moving into the area. Twelver Shiism was imposed on the previously Sunni population, and the Qizibash who devoutly believed Safavid propoganda became fanatically loyal to Shah Ismail's cause as they believed him to be the 12th Imam.
