J.J.'s discovery of the electron added a new piece to our history of the atom by revealing the existence of subatomic particles, specifically negative charged electrons, within the atom. His contribution to Atomic Theory was important because it provided experimental evidence for the existence of subatomic partials within the atom, specifically the electron.
