Causes-
1. The League of Nations was created to encourage cooperation and create world peace.
2. After World War 1 the League of Nations was created.
3. They had to obey international laws.
Effects-
1. They attempted to make world peace causing the League of Nations to be unsuccessful.
2. The League of Nations was formed to prevent a repetition of the First World War, but within the first 20 years, the plan had failed.
3. The League of Nations effectively resolved most of the international fights but then failed to prevent the outburst of the Second World War because there was a series of events that triggered Germany's aggression causing them to create another war.
4. Member states rejected secret diplomacy, committed committed to reducing their weapons, and agreed to obey international law.
5. 14-point plan:
1. Open diplomacy without secret treaties. 2. Economic free trade on the seas during war and peace. 3. Equal trade conditions. 4. Decrease armaments among all nations. 5. Adjust colonial claims. 6. Evacuation of all Central Powers from Russia and allow it to define its independence. 7. Belgium to be evacuated and restored. 8. Return of Alsace-Lorraine region and all French territories. 9. Readjust Italian borders. 10. Austria-Hungary to be provided an opportunity for self-determination. 11. Redraw the borders of the Balkan region creating Roumania, Serbia, and Montenegro. 12. Creation of a Turkish state with guaranteed free trade in the Dardanelles. 13. Creation of an independent Polish state. 14. Creation of the League of Nations.
