this work was created for the russian people to see and was a poster meant to be put up all around russian cities.

the poster is a lithograph of gelatin on silver.

klutsis' design was a means of celebrating the 13th anniversary of the communist revolution.

this design was inspired by the works of alexander rodchenko, who used vibrant colours and grayscale photographic images for his propaganda posters. soviet artists often used this method: photos meant the audience could envision themselves in the same position.

this type of photographic montage is used to this day and has inspired countless other propaganda campaigns.
