Rule of Pirate King Henry Avery (10 Feb 1694 Jahr – 12 Apr 1696 Jahr)

Beschreibung:

Henry Avery, dubbed the “King of Pirates” by contemporaries was perhaps the most notorious pirate of his age, and was the founder of the Illegal Trade Confederation (ITC). Henry Avery was the captain of the 46 gun privateer Fancy. Avery conducted one of the most successful piracy actions by a squadron of 6 pirate vessels (440 men) in an attack on the Mughal ship Ganj-i-sawai c.1695 , which was in a 25 ship convoy. In a very bloody battle Avery captured 7,800 gold in precious gems and jewels which was the largest pirate haul of its time. After this raid, Avery and his crew tortured, raped, and killed a great number of the passengers and women of all ages. This event was so significant it affected trade relations between Corsafall and the Mughals, and a 13 Gold bounty was placed on his head triggering a worldwide manhunt, while Corsian Parliament declared the pirates “hostis humani generis” (enemies of the human race). Though 24 of these pirates were captured (6 hanged) Avery was not among them and vanished from records as of 1696. His legendary treasure remains undiscovered to this day. Avery’s exploits may have inspired many other famous pirates who were still children at this time: Blackbeard, Bartholemew Roberts, Calico Jack, Samuel Bellamy, Edward Low, and Stede Bonnet among them.
