1 feb 1960-25 jul 1960,after being denied service a group of young African Americans demonstrated sit-in in segregated Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina and refused to leave. the sit-ins spread to other college towns. many students were arrested for disturbing the peace, trespassing, or disorderly conduct. these sit-ins had a lasting impact and caused establishments to change their segregation rules.
