During sessions for Ye's upcoming album, Ye & Ty Dolla $ign worked a lot together during the sessions and likely had an idea to make a collaborative album together. A snippet was posted on October 2nd, 2023 which featured Ty Dolla $ign vocals, which Ye and Ty likely gave to news outlets. This was confirmed after Ty Dolla $ign posted a video on Instagram of footage of Ye, Ty and others in a room talking about the "clip". The post had the caption, "¥$", raising suspicion of a collab project of some sort. Then a TMZ article was posted which confirmed that Ye was working on a solo album and a collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign. The alleged cover art for the collab project was posted on Ty Dolla $ign's story in an edited version of the video talking about the "clip".
