Foods
- potato became an important crop- rich in calories & cheap = good food for peasants
- other foods: tomato, maize (Americas to Europe), coffee bean (Africa to Americas), sugar cane (Asia to Americas), guns, horses (Europe to Americas)
- sugar cane discovery drove enslaved labor (started to plant it in South America- large plantations)

Disease
- smallpox, malaria, measles, mumps, typhus from Old World to New World
- syphilis from New World to Old World
- diseases are like biological weapons (Americas had zero immunity to some diseases that were only mild to Europeans)
- Europeans related all the deaths to God
- European diseases brought by explorers may have destroyed 75% to 90% of the native populations (BEFORE Europeans began to colonize)
