Mary Wollstonecraft was born in England, into a moderately rich family. Her father was a farmer who later became drunk and spend money on useless projects, which caused the family to become poor. Mary never got a good education that she wanted, so she decided to leave her family when she got older. She created a school, and worked as a housekeeper or nanny. She wrote Thoughts on the Education of Daughters, which talked about how women should be educated, and not learn only housekeeping. mary believed that men and women should be seen as equals and get the same education. While Rousseau criticized her work, she was good friends with Voltaire who supported her. She also wrote A Vindication of Rights of Women. This book talks about how under the law, women should be seen as equals to men, and that they should have the ability to vote and get a normal education.
