Mary Wollstonecraft did not have a formal education, while her older brother did. Since her father was an alcoholic and spent a lot of money on useless things, Mary's family became poor. Mary really wanted to be a writer, so she wrote her first book named Thoughts on the Education of Daughters in 1787. This book was mainly about how women should have the same education as men. Mary was very involved in women's rights and believed that they should be treated the same way as men. She also wrote another book in 1792 named A VIndication of the Rights of Women. This was Mary's most popular book that talks about how under the law, women should be equal to men and how no matter what class you are (rich or poor), everyone deserves to have an education.
