The High Middle Ages (1 Jan 997 Jahr – 1 Jan 1300 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
The high middle ages were a period of time in Europe in which the Holy Roman empire was very important. England was invaded by the French Normans (in 1066) bringing a new language of aristocracy. In Italy, land was controlled by the popes, but also by prosperous city-states like Florence, Genoa, and Milan. Together, Christian powers in Italy overthrew Islamic and byzantine power to create Naples. By the late 1200s, Christians controlled most of the Iberian peninsula. During this time period, Europeans also experimented with farming; beans, crop rotation, domestic animals, and fish ponds; watermills, heavy plows, horseshoes, and horse collars. These all led to Xtrem population growth. Cities flourished, bringing specialization of labor and textile production. Cathedral schools arose as a means of education through the Christian church, but tended to be limited to the wealthier. During this period, the vikings also created and then abandoned the colony of Vinland in Newfoundland.
