The Tang Dynasty (1 Jan 618 Jahr – 1 Jan 907 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
A highly militaristic dynasty that nevertheless kept low taxes for peasants, and maintained low prices on rice, the Tang dynasty renewed stability in China. The Tang kept a very quick communications network based on roads, horses and runners. In addition, when the Tang conquered Vietnam, they discovered a new strain of fast-growing rice, which allowed enormous population growth (in addition to the increased use of iron plows, oxen, water buffaloes, and irrigation systems). The tang also invented gunpowder. Most importantly, the Tang dynasty introduced the equal fields system, which gave land to individuals and families. However, rising population and bribery led to the collapse of the system by the early 700s. The Tang dynasty relied heavily on the confucian merit-based system of bureaucracy. However, after a weak emperor was ousted by a popular military leader, and the Uighur nomadic turks were brought in to restore order, the dynasty was greatly weakened.
