Describe 3 ways in which American Cold War foreign policy impacted American society from 1945-1980.

Especially because this war was a war off of ideologies, The Second Red Scare occurred which greatly impacted American society. During the Culture of Conformity in the 1950's the red scare suppressed people's first amendment because if they spoke out it would be seen as radicalism and opposition to the American government. Women had to play their roles as mothers. In addition, particularly due to the Vietnam War, society grew distrustful of the American government. Presidents such as Nixon and Reagan were involved in scandals and lied to the public. In addition, much of the money funding domestic programs was going into the efforts of the war. Many people opposed the war but the government ignored them and events such as Kent State Massacre shocked the people.
