Period 3: Revolutionary Era (1 Jan 1754 Jahr – 1 Jan 1783 Jahr)

Beschreibung:

Enduring Understanding: The end of salutary neglect as a result of the French and Indian war led the colonists to declare independence. They garnered support for independence through a variety of means including art and idea pamphlets based on things such as the First Great Awakening and the Enlightenment. However, these ideas of liberty and equality were not inclusive.

The Articles of confederation was a written document that the 13 colonies all agreed that established and preserved sovereignty among the states. The weakness of the Articles was no power to tax, no power to enforce laws, no national court system, etc. These weaknesses shaped the constitution to be a weak central government and left the power with the state government. Since they needed a stronger form of government, this led to the the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
