Revolutionary Era 1754 - 1783 (1 Jan 1740 Jahr – 1 Jan 1754 Jahr)

Beschreibung:

The end of salutary neglect as a result of the French and Indian war led the colonists to declare independence. They garnered support for independence through a variety of means including art and idea pamphlets based on things such as the First Great Awakening and the Enlightenment. However, these ideas of liberty and equality were not inclusive.

The weaknesses of the Articles of the Confederation were Congress not being able to tax, weak leadership, and no judicial branch.
Congress not being able to tax made it difficult for them to regulate economical power between the settlers and Britain in trading. Furthermore, their weak leadership justified citizens' distrust in the government, especially when it came to properly protecting their rights. The US government lacking a judicial branch made it difficult for themselves to check and balance powers in all branches. Finally, the Articles of Confederation was deemed too weak to guarantee the country stability.

The three reasons that led up to the American Revolution were the taxation acts, Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre. The taxation acts raised tension between Americans and the British because since taxes were on the importation of sugar/molasses, the US saw this as a threat to their trading economy. The Boston Tea Party also raised tension because Americans ruled the taxing as "taxation without representation", which initially violated their right to depend and lead commerce. The Boston Massacre then raised tension as well because the killings were essentially about independence against the British, therefore, the colonies were teaming up to finally be free at any cost. Overall, the US and its Americans were fed up with being under the British's control, therefore, caused violence and tension to break free.
