Period 3: Revolutionary Era (1 Jan 1754 Jahr – 1 Jan 1783 Jahr)

The end of salutary neglect as a result of the French and Indian war led the colonists to declare independence. They garnered support for independence through a variety of means including art and idea pamphlets based on things such as the First Great Awakening and the Enlightenment. However, these ideas of liberty and equality were not inclusive.

The tension between the US and Great Britain increased as Britain was in debt due to the 7 year long war and decided to tax America to gain some of the money back. The US were not happy with that as they had no representation in Parliament, and didn't like the idea of being governed and tax by Britain after they for so long were governing themselves and their respective states. These factors, along with the excessive force applied by Britain made the US recede from Britain and become independent.
