Period 4: New Nation’s Growing Pains (1 Jan 1783 Jahr – 1 Jan 1800 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
Enduring Understanding: The process of creating the founding documents was defined by compromise as the founders attempted to negotiate the divide between Federalists and Anti-Federalists to define the powers of the US federal and state governments. The conflict resulted in a bicameral legislature and the Bill of Rights, but failed to protect or acknowledge rights of enslaved people.
There were policies in the Jacksonian Democracy that led to lots of changes in American politics. The bank of the U.S. was ended, and there was more expansion westwards. This is an outcome of the Lousiana Purchase and Missouri Compromise where America gained a large part of land. Americans had the control of their own money which meant privilege due to the shut down of banks in the country.
The American Revolution led to an economic growth and new personal wealth, but it also caused devastating depressions. Because of this there was a large wealth gap between these different classes. Additionally, there was less restrictions on businesses and individuals. Socially, the Market Revolution resulted in a growing of lower class and "panics."
