Medieval Scholasticism (1 Jan 878 Jahr – 1 Jan 1300 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
Scholasticism emerged during the Middle Ages as a new method of thinking, and therefore learning. Academics became heavily philosophy-based, and this resulted in the teaching and practice of medicine becoming more conceptually developmental rather than practice-based. Practicing medicine became separated from studying and developing it, consequently dissociating medical practice at the time from the academic concept and teaching of it. The Medieval Period also saw a surge of religious influence on academics and philosophy, and a lot of medical practice was altered or supplemented with religious aspects.
Overall, there was a shift in priority towards thinking about medicine rather than practicing it. The heavy religious influence permeated medical practice and teaching as well, creating a unique era of "medical philosophers" rather than "healers".
