Medieval Scholasticism (1 Jan 800 Jahr – 1 Jan 1300 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
The primary approach to medicine during most of the middle ages period. This doctrine included the content of ancient Greek medicine without any of the methods. Physicians of the time focused on being Philosophers over healers–hence their practice focused on books and commentary not nature or the patient. This period experienced a stark divorce of medical theory from practice. All medical practice took place with the background of strict Christian beliefs.
Philosophy held more prestige than internal medicine. Medical students were tested on the books/texts, not their ability to practice medicine. Medical practice was taught on the side - not as a primary university topic. Eventually some colleges started requiring students to be educated in philosophy and practice.
