Beschreibung:

The son of Spytihněv II (1031-1061), Duke of Bohemia from 1055 , and his wife Ide (Hidda), the only daughter of Margrave Thierry I of Lusatia , from the House of Wettin . After his father's death, his uncle Vratislav II took over in Bohemia .

He thus embarked on an ecclesiastical career, under the name of Bedřich / Federico. First papal legate , he became patriarch of Aquileia in 1084 , with the rank of prince of the Holy Empire . He is the only prelate of Slavic origin who receives the Patriarchate of Aquileia in Italy .

He also took part in the negotiations preceding the coronation of his uncle, Duke Vratislav II , who receivedapril 1085the Royal Crown of Bohemia from the hands of Emperor Henry IV for his support during the Saxon revolt . Nevertheless, Frederick failed to establish himself in his patriarchy and he was killed after two years of rule during a riot in a street in Aquileia .
