The Baptist settlement of Bush River had a meeting place, Bush River Baptist Church. Patriot Col John Thomas Jr with a detachment of Sumter's state troops skirmished with a group of Tories killing 3 and capturing 12 along with four wagons and several slaves. The exact location of the skirmish is unknown but probably close to the church.
