Beowulf is an Old English epic poem written some time between the 7th and the early 11th century by an anonymous poet. It is the oldest English poem to be found, with only a single surviving manuscript dating between 975 and 1025 CE.

It is also one of the most important and most often translated works of Old English literature, with more than 600 translations as of 2020.
