Spanish Conquests Of the Americas (6 Jan 1492 Jahr – 27 Aug 1572 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
Near the end of the 15th century, a man named Christopher Columbus gathered a force of over 200 sailors and, with commander Martin Pinzon, the set sail for the "new land." Records show Christopher colobus had two diaries. One for the crew to see and take note of where they were in relation to Spain, and other other one a private journal where Colobus recorded how far they actually where from shore. The reason he did this was out of fear of a mutiny.
Up until this point, sailors had only sailed three days without sight of land so, for Columbus's crew, there 10 week journey was quite a leap. Thought the voyage, there where many threats of mutiny but their ship but eventually they landed in on a island called San Salvador.
As well as finding riches such as gold in America, he claimed the land as Spanish territory and took home to Spain many slaves. This enraged the royal court as they believed it was like enslaving your own people.
Spain grew very wealthy on the back of Columbus's success and the infuence of western culture spread though spain because of this.
