The Battles of Saratoga occurred in September and October of 1777. It enclosed two crucial conflicts, the battles of Freeman's Farm and Bemis Heights, which were fought 18 days apart. The American triumph in the Battles of Saratoga assisted greatly in persuading the French to openly provide Americ with military assistance.1.) These battles contained an important influence on independence because they convinced Congress to adopt the Articles of Confederation on November 15, 1777.
