(Pre 1200-1431) This empire was a powerful state in Southeast Asia. During the highest point of the empire, it covered much of what is now Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and southern Vietnam. Hinduism and Buddhism were very important religions in this region. Their culture and art was hugely influenced by India due to important sea trade routes connecting to the subcontinent.
