Alexandria was founded by Alexander the Great on the coast of Egypt that opened to the Mediterranean sea. Alexandria was one of the most powerful cities of the Hellenistic world, but was taken over by Rome in 30 BCE. This city has a very tactical location with the Libyan Desert to the west and the Nile Delta to the east. This city was one of the most notable librarys of the Hellenisitc world. Alexandria was founded to be the link between Greece and the rich Nile Valley. Alexander the Great was around for groudwork fo the city but then left to conqure more and returned when Ptolemy brought him back to be buried in Alexandria.
