Jesus of Nazareth was a Galilean man who was born a poor Jew. He followed in the footsteps of his father, becoming a highly successful carpenter. However at the age of thirty-three, he began preaching to people all over Judaea about religion as well as supposedly performing miracles. Soon after arriving in Jerusalem, he was sentenced to death and crucified by the Roman Empire. His followers however believe in his resurrection from death and began spreading his word, ultimately starting a new world religion known as Christianity.
