Cuban Missile Crisis (16 Okt 1962 Jahr – 28 Okt 1962 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
In 1962, Nikita Khrushchev made a deal and constructed missile sites all over Cuba under the leadership of Fidel Castro. President John F Kennedy and America found out about this and set up a blockade surrounding Cuba to prevent the Russians from expanding. The world was this close to a nuclear war. The Americans and Soviets exchanged letters and other communications after a lot of tension built up. On October 26, Khrushchev sent a message to Kennedy Stating that he would remove the Cuban missiles for a promise by America not to invade Cuba and to remove the missiles they had in Turkey. On October 28th, both sides had come to peace, and the tensions ended.
This was an important lesson for the United States, and it left a big impact. Both sides kept escalating, and they were in the brisk of war. They learned about the value of communication since most of the tensions were created because of the lack of it.
