The empire reaches great extent under Emperors Trajan and Hadrian (1 Jan 96 Jahr – 1 Jan 138 Jahr)

In 96, Domitian was assassinated by members of the royal household and Nerva was declared ruler of Rome by the Senate. Nerva then adopted the general and former consul Trajan as his son. When Nerva died, Trajan succeeded him. Then, the Dacian wars occurred which was fought between Rome and Dacia, and resulted in Rome taking all of Dacia's gold mines which provided finance for Rome's future campaigns and assisted with the rapid expansion of Roman towns throughout Europe. Rome also to slaves from Dacia. A few years later, Trajan captured Armenia, Mesopotamia, Parthia, and Assyria. Trajan died in 117, and Hadrian succeeded him. Hadrian withdrew from the territories of Assyria, Armenia, and Mesopotamia. The construction of Hadrian's wall began in 122. In 132, the Bar Kokhba revolts began and ended at the cost of tens of thousands of Roman soldiers.
