Ideas on religion influenced by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, George Whitefield, and Jonathan Edwards led to a convergence between Enlightenment ideals and the New World. New Light Clergy brough young people to religion, and the Great Awakening influenced the ideas that rebelling against traditional authority was part of their effort to create a better world (which led to the American Revolution).
