In his well-known (and only) novel, ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ (1890), his position as a spokesman for aestheticism is included very clearly.-What an artist should be according to Wilde: The artist shouldn’t be concerned with morals and ethics (useful things), he should only focus on creating beautiful things (useless); aestheticism.
