Last day in Jerusalem (23 Sept 1867 Jahr – 28 Sept 1867 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
Saturday Sept 28, 1867 was Twain's last day in Jerusalem, a sabbath day. The PARSHA appointed for reading that sabbath, specifically (and ironically) referred to Twain (he was "the stranger") as he prepared to leave the holy land. He would have no idea that the ancient scripture was referring to him!
WHAT IS A PARSHA? A specific portion of scripture, appointed ages ago to be read on Sabbath days in Jewish Synagogues worldwide. https://youtu.be/Dk-UObwkgQw?t=11
"...He would have known that they (Jews in Jerusalem) were reading from the ancient scriptures, but he would have had no idea that it was about him.... Twain just happened to have heard of that particular voyage..." years earlier he had decided to become a journalist... he didn't plan the timing of the voyage... -- Cahn,J. The Oracle (2019), pg.45
