German unification with Austria (Anschluss Österreichs) (14 Nov 1937 Jahr – 17 Nov 1937 Jahr)

On 14th November 1937, tragedy struck inside the Austrian capital of Vienna.
Kurt von Schuschnigg, a pro-Austrian nationalist, anti-national socialist and the second chancellor of Austria, got assassinated.

Who was responsible remains unknown but many expect the Austrian Nazi Party branch or even the NSDAP from Germany to have caused this assassination, but there isn't enough evidence to back this up.

The death caused chaos. The Fatherland Front party and the Austrian parliament begin to find a new acting chancellor while placing the whole country in a state of emergency.

The German Reich chose to seize this chance by proclaiming that the Reich must enter into Austria so they can maintain power back into the country.
This shocked Austria as the Fatherland Front party does not want to lose Austria's independence, but they are willing to make negotiations with Germany.

Through much discussion, arguments and negotiations, Germany and Austria come to an inclusion about a proposed plan for unification between the two nations.

As part of the negotiations were going on, Arthur Seyss-Inquart (with support from undercover SS officers and elements of the Austrian military) became the Austrian chancellor by seizing power in a successful pro-Nazi coup to overthrow the government and the Fatherland Front party.
While this was going on too, the Germans intentionally prevent any Austrian politician or diplomat from leaving Bavaria, Germany.

On Nov 15th, The new "chancellor" of Austria invites the disorganised German army into the country that evening.

Then on Nov 16, German troops marched into Austria, against the 1919 treaty, with little to no opposition from the people or any of the foreign powers.

The country was conquered easily which was largely from the German-supported population who welcomed the troops with open arms.

On Nov 17 1937, Austria was incorporated into the Reich.

Austria would be renamed as Ostmark by the Nazi Government.
