The Spanish American war was a conflict between the US and Spain that dealt with Cuba and other Spanish terriotories. For years the cubans had been under Spanish control and were being treated horribly and Spain expedited all of their crops and left the people with basically nothing. This and the sinking of the USS Maine was a good enough reason to go to war with Spain. But the real reason was to gain territory and keep up with expanding empires.
