WWI Homefront (28 Jul 1914 Jahr – 11 Nov 1918 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
Women's employment rates nearly doubled during WWI as they began doing what was formerly thought to be “men's work”. While many of the men were off fighting the war, women began taking jobs like firefighters, police, bank clerks, and many more. Of course when women did perform these jobs, they got paid much less for the same work, creating a wage gap. Nearly 400 women died from exposure to TNT while working in munition factories because they were not given proper protection. As the number of women in the workplace grew, women's clothing and style began to change to better support the demands of their jobs, leading to flappers and vamps.
