Constitutional Convention (25 Mai 1787 Jahr – 17 Sept 1787 Jahr)

Beschreibung:

At least two delegates were nominated and represented each colony (except Rhode Island) at the Constitutional Convention. These delegates convened in Philadelphia’s Pennsylvania State House. The purpose of the Constitutional Convention was to develop a federal system. This federal system was characterized by an series of checks and balances. There was a conflict that divided the convention, the issue of state representation in Congress, as more populated states sought our proportional legislation, and smaller states wanted equal representation. This issue was later resolved by the Compromise which states a bicameral legislature with proportional representation in the lower house (House of Representatives) and equal representation of the states in the upper house (Senate). About 3.5 months later, the Constitution was signed by 38 of the 41 delegates.
