United States of America (1 Jan 1875 Jahr – 1 Jan 2021 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
Jewish communities in the United States became influential centers of Torah learning initially by way of Judaism's progressive movements. The Reform movement's Hebrew Union College was founded in 1875, and the Conservative movement's Jewish Theological Seminary was founded in 1886, in New York City. Both were initially Ashkenazi institutions.
The United States subsequently became a center of Orthodox Judaism and traditional non-Ashkenazi Judaism as well.
Refugees from throughout the Jewish world continued to arrive in the United States, and today Jews of every origin and tradition can be found there. The United States has the second-largest Jewish population of any nation.
The most significant Jewish center is New York City.
