Sepharad (1 Jan 900 Jahr – 1 Jan 1492 Jahr)
Beschreibung:
During these years, the Jewish community of Al-Andalus, modern Spain and Portugal, was a center of Jewish learning and cultural life which influenced the enitre Jewish world.
Sepharadi Jews trace their culture, minhag (customs) and halacha (law) back to Sepharad.
The expulsion of Spain's Jewish community in 1492 brought an end to this physical centre although the culture and language did not die and continue to thrive today.
Many foundational works of halacha as well as Jewish poetry were created in Sepharad, such as the Shulchan Aruch and the poetry of Solomon ibn Gabirol.
