the americans were invading Natives land, the british convinced them to fight back. the north was against the war while the south/west were for the war (they would gain land).

Proved that america was now a fully formed put together country, the americans beat the british navy (at a time when england had the strongest navy), Andrew Jackson became a popular war hero, america got land.
