The February Revolution (8 März 1917 Jahr – 16 Apr 1917 Jahr)

The February Revolution was the first of 2 Revolutions in Russia. It is called the February Revolution, even though it is March, because they used a slightly different calendar. Although it is sometimes also called the March Revolution. After THE GREAT WAR, Russia was in a poor state and on the 8th of March (Or 23rd of February Old style) revolutionaries protested in great numbers against food rationing near Petrograd (Or Saint Petersburg as it is now called). The Tsar sent out the army to deal with it, but instead of stopping the protests, tens of thousands of soldiers joined the protestors. Councils called SOVIETS were chosen to govern factories and army units. The Tsar resigned and the DUMA formed a new government making Russia a republic.
