The Spanish-American War was fought from April to August of 1898 between the United States and Spain. The explosion of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor led to the US intervention in the Cuban War of Independence, where Cuba was fighting for their independence. After 10 weeks of fighting, The US won and resulted in the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
