The 2nd Great Awakening, occurring after the American Revolution, sought to adapt to the new individualist attitude of the time. To get more people interested, they changed religion to what ever the people saw fit. Also called 'democratization' this period saw a rise of public attitudes against seriously wicked acts like alcoholism, slavery, gender pay inequality, and a better education system. Unlike other religious movements, this movement was mostly led by middle class women. This means that for the first time in American History, women were heard.
