The Mughal Dynasty was a Muslim empire of Turkic-Mongol origin that controlled most of northern India during the early 16th to the mid-18th century. After, it continued to exist as a smaller and progressively powerless organization up until the mid-19th century. The Mughal dynasty is most known for its more than two centuries of successful rule in India and effort to integrate Hindus and Muslims into a united Indian state.
