During World War II, gas masks were developed to protect against toxic gases. Although drugs can also be used, gas masks are more effective. A material called whetlerite was the substance from which the masks were made. Gas masks for people wounded on the head were also created so that people with injuries in the hospital could also wear a gas mask and be protected from poisonous gases. [10]
