Women´s March on Versailles (5 Okt 1789 Jahr – 6 Okt 1789 Jahr)

Beschreibung:

The price of bread drastically increased due to bad harvests. Bread took up a large portion of the French diet, especially ones living the courtlife, who ate more food in a day than the average peasant did in a year. A large crowd of mostly women marched from Paris to the Palace of Versailles, and stormed it. They demanded the King to live among the people, because they were convinced that the royal family neglected the problems of the common folk since they were living the luxurious life and were ignorant. This was important because the King agreed, which legitimized the National Assembly because they provided protection for the King.
